All the local islands are connected to the various airports; some are easier to reach than others.

Our Omadhoo is located in the South Ari Atoll, called “Alif Dhaalu” in our official language, Divehi. Therefore, the correct designation is Adh. Omadhoo.

1. How to Get to Omadhoo Island from Malé

Omadhoo is located in the South Ari Atoll, about 70 kilometers southwest of Velana International Airport in Malé. You have two main transportation options for this route:

  • Scheduled Speedboat (Recommended): This is the preferred choice for most travelers due to its balance of speed and comfort. The trip takes approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes. The average price is $55 USD per person, each way. There are daily departures from Malé/the airport in the morning (around 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM) and in the afternoon (around 3:30 PM – 4:00 PM). As a great advantage, if you book your stay or dive packages with Omadhoo Dive Tours, our team will manage your speedboat reservations directly and ensures a smooth transfer.
  • Public Ferry (MTCC): If you are traveling on a tight budget, the public ferry is a very economical option. The travel time is around 4.5 hours and costs under $5 USD each way. However, keep in mind that it does not run every day, and it requires transferring to Malé’s main ferry terminal on your own, as it does not depart directly from the airport.

2. Finding the Center on the Island

Once you disembark on Omadhoo, getting to the dive center is very straightforward.

  • The Omadhoo Dive Tours facilities are just a short walk from the harbor.
  • The dive center is strategically situated in a privileged, quiet setting outside the main center of the island, right on the path that leads to the designated “Bikini Beach.”

3. We recommend

Make your life easier and book your transfer along with your accommodation. We have better communication with the companies that manage transfers, making the process simpler for us. Especially when it comes to handling changes, availability, or any issue that ensures your transfer is on time. Don’t get stranded or stressed when starting your vacation.
